Aakash Chopra Career
Chopra started his cricket journey as an opening batsman for Sonnet Cricket Club, Delhi.
In late 2003, Aakash made his first international debut in Ahmedabad against New Zealand with his Delhi teammate Virender Sehwag. He was also called to the Indian National Test cricket squad.
He started his international career very well by hitting two centuries against New Zealand in 2003-04.
On a Pakistan tour, India posted 600+ runs in the first innings with the partnership of Virender Sehwag and Aakash Chopra. But, unfortunately, he did not play well in a second test match.
It was in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2004 that he got to play for India once again. Tendulkar’s ousting was the reason Chopra was named in the squad against Australia. Therefore, a heavy loss within the match and the return of Tendulkar resulted in Chopra being thrown out of the team.
He was again called to play Australia in the third Test of the series. The second failure was the ultimate departure of Chopra from the Indian cricket team.
In “Vijay Hazare Trophy 2008”, he has scored 425 runs in 7 innings at an average of 60.71 in favor of Delhi.
In the 1st and 2nd seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL), he played for Shahrukh Khan’s team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Later in 2012, he decided to play with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL season 4.
Currently he doing commentary with BCCI, International matches and many more.
